Proviron (active ingredient "Mesterolone") is an androgenic drug derived from dihydrotestosterone. Although dihydrotestosterone has a very high androgenic activity, mesterolone does not have this characteristic and is therefore not often used in hormone replacement therapy. However, this drug is used in weight training. For example, Mesterolone can moderately suppress the aromatase enzyme, thereby compensating for the side effects of steroids associated with the conversion of testosterone to oestrogen.
